SUMMARY:ICOP 24: Optimal placement of sensors and actuators
DESCRIPTION:On Friday May 17, 2024 Prof. Enrique Zuazua will talk as keynote speaker on “Optimal placement of sensors and actuators” at the ICOP 24, International Conference on Optimization, on May 16 – 18, 2024 at Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University at Fez, Morocco.\nAbstract. Most of applications addressed in the context of Applied Mathematics end up requiring controlling the process under consideration. On the other hand, efficiently controlling a system depends largely on the placement of sensors and actuators. The optimal placement problem can be formulated in many ways and often leads to complex non-convex optimization problems.\nIn this lecture we shall first present our earlier work in collaboration with Y. Privat and E. Tr ́elat based in Fourier analysis. We shall discuss the wave and heat equation and describe how optimnal placements and shapes depend on the frequency range considered.\nWe shall later introduce the more recent work in collaboration with I. Ftouhi in which the problem is addressed from a purely geometric perspective. We also present some challenging open problems.\nWHEN\nFri. May 17, 2024 at 17:00H (Berlin time)\nWHERE\nSidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University. Fez, Morocco.\nFaculty of Sciences Dhar El Mahraz\nConference book and schedule\n|| See more at the official page of the event.\n
