SUMMARY:MPDE 2024: Numerical approximation of Hardy and Sobolev constants
DESCRIPTION:On September 23, 2024 Prof. Enrique Zuazua will talk as a plenary speaker on “Numerical approximation of Hardy and Sobolev constants” organized on September 23 – 27, 2024 at the MPDE 2024, Modelling, PDE analysis and computational mathematics in material sciences organized at the Univerzita Karlova (Charles University) in Czech Republic, Prague.\nThe overarching aim is to treat physical materials as meaningful mathematical objects, resulting in mathematical models that can be used for the computational simulation of their behaviour. To this end, three complementary subject areas will be focused on by experts in mathematical modelling, analysis of partial differential equations, and scientific computing and numerical analysis.\nAbstract. In this talk, we will explore the optimal approximation rates for the critical constants associated with fundamental inequalities in partial differential equations (PDE) analysis, specifically the Hardy and Sobolev inequalities. We will outline a systematic methodology to achieve sharp convergence rates. Additionally, we will present several applications within the context of numerical approximation for parabolic evolution problems.\nRegistration\nhttps://www2.karlin.mff.cuni.cz/~prusv/ncmm/conference/mpde/registration.html\n*See more about conference fee\nWHEN\nMon.
