Conference in honor Serge Nicaise 60th birthday: Networks, Waves and Control By E. Zuazua
On November 2nd, our Head Enrique Zuazua will talk on “Networks, Waves and Control” on the PDE, Analysis and Applications conference in honor of Serge Nicaise 60th birthday on November 2-5, 2021 at Valenciennes, France.
Asbtract. In this lecture we will mainly analyze wave propagation on a planarnetwork, a topic to which Serge Nicaise so much contributed.The problem of the observation of waves is a natural framework toaddress this issue. Roughly, the question can be formulated as follows:Can we recover complete information on the energy of waves by makingmeasurements in one single extreme of the network? This formulationis relevant both in the context of control and inverse problems.Using the Fourier development of solutions and techniques of Non-harmonic Fourier Analysis, we shall give spectral sharp conditions guar-anteeing this property to hold.The analysis becomes much more explicit in the case where the net-work has a tree-like structure.As a corollary these results can be transferred to other models, suchas the Schrödinger, heat or beam-type equations.We shall also present recent results on the uniformity of these resultsin the context of vanishing viscosity.Other challenging problems arise in this field. Some of them will bementioned as topics for future research.
