Abstract. This talk aims to introduce the hybrid parabolic-hyperbolic property for the heat equation with a real analytic memory kernel in lower order term. More precisely, we develop a decomposition for the flow of the equation with three parts: the heat-like component, the wave-like component, and a good remainder. Moreover, the heat-like component has the smoothing effect of infinite order, while the wave-like one owns the propagation of singularities along the time direction. From this decomposition, we can see that the flow has strong heat-like effect around the initial time, and strong wave-like effect at positive time. This talk is based on joint works with Gengsheng Wang and Enrique Zuazua.
