Abstract. Homogeneity is a kind of symmetry, which can be checked from the right-hand sides of an ordinary or functional differential equation describing the dynamics of a system, and which also provides symmetry to the induced solutions. The interrelation of solutions for a dynamical system has many consequences in terms of stability, rate of convergence and robustness to exogenous disturbances or delays. This talk presents a brief overview of the theory of homogeneous systems for ordinary differential equations, time-delay dynamics, discrete-time models, and partial differential equations, with emphasis on applications for control and estimation.
